Details of the Private Pilot Course

This course aims to help people with no flight experience obtain a private pilot’s license in Chile. A private pilot’s license allows you to fly as pilot in command of an aircraft privately (without remuneration).

The requirements for obtaining the license are established by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), but their implementation varies considerably from country to country. According to ICAO, the license is obtained by successfully completing a course with at least 45 flight hours, passing the written exams administered by the Chilean Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC), completing a solo cross-country flight (the minimum cumulative solo flight time is 10 hours), and successfully demonstrating flying skills to an examiner during a flight test (which includes an oral exam).

In Chile, pilots can receive training under DAN 141 regulations, which allows them to apply for their license with as little as 35 flight hours. However, most pilots require between 60 and 70 flight hours to complete their training.
